Tonight I attended a discussion about Tibet which aimed to educate students on the issues surrounding the country. At one point during the guest speaker’s talk, he mentioned that Tibetans as well as others, are using social networking to spread the word on the oppression in Tibet. I thought it was really interesting that people who are taking a stand on the issue are turning to social networking - blogging, Facebook, Yahoo, Twitter - to have their voice heard. It is truly an indication of how much the world is relying on the internet to gather and spread information.
